Credit:  www.kpopstarz.com

Singer and actor Kim Hyun Joong is known for being a kind-hearted and generous person. So it was no surprise when he donated $100,000 last week to help the victim's of the Ya'an earthquake in China's Sichuan province. The magnitude 7.0 quake that hit Lushan on April 22, left almost 200 people dead and resulted in at least 13,000 being injured.
He donated the money to The One Foundation, a private charity set up by Chinese actor Jet Li. After his donation was acknowledged, the star expressed his heartfelt concern for the earthquake victims using Weibo, the Chinese social media service.
The One Foundation vowed to help victims with Kim's donation. His donation is likely to make him even more popular in China where he won the Most Popular Overseas Artist Award at last year's Miguhui Awards.
It's not the first time that the SS501 singer and star of "Boys Over Flowers" and "Playful Kiss" has made a generous donation and he prefers not to publicize his charity efforts. He also made donations to Japan to aid the victims of their recent earthquake and the 2011 tsunami. He donated about $45,000 to the Korean Red Cross Association two years ago then donated another $50,000 to an effort to help heat homes. He also contributes to World Vision, to a home for single mothers, the Smile Angel Foundation, and he is a member of a charity football team, FC Men.
Netizens were pleased to learn of his latest good deed, making comments such as "It's nice to see him always helping those in need," "I'm proud to call myself your fan," and "Kim Hyun Joong, you are not only my idol but you have been a role model for me in so many ways."
Last year his generosity inspired some of his Japanese fans to donate to a scholarship fund in his name. After he learned of their efforts, Kim donated even more money to the same fund organized by the Beautiful Foundation.
"There are many fan clubs who perform good works in the name of celebrities," said Beautiful Foundation director Kim Mikyung. "But it's unusual for a celebrity to respond to a fan club's donations with another donation."
The lead singer of SS501 has added a successful solo career to his work with the popular boy band As an actor, Kim is best known for playing Yoon Ji Hoo in "Boys Over Flowers" and won a Best Actor Award plus a Popularity Award for his performance. But after his latest generous donation, someone may want to give him an award for being such a stand-up guy.

Park Jung Min's lengthy legal battle with his previous label CNr Media has finally come to an end.
His current label, Yamaha A&R revealed, "Park Jung Min has cleanly closed his relationship with CNr Media. He's been exempted from all the related businesses and miscellaneous contract issues with his previous label.
Park Jung Min had filed a lawsuit towards his former label for 200,000,000 KRW (approximately $180,000 USD) in July 2012 demanding provisional disposition to terminate the validity of his contract. He had said, "When the contract was signed in October 2010, the profit was supposed to be split at a set rate. However, the balance remaining has still not been paid. The unpaid dues are estimated to reach 1.1 billion KRW (approximately $1 million USD), but the suit is only for 200 million KRW. Later on, the exact profit will be calculated and the suit will be increased as a result. The label received the request of correction about the unpaid dues, but did nothing. Because of this, the contract with them was terminated last December.
Park Jung Min agreed to the decision that he would receive what CNr Media could realistically pay him, due to their financial troubles and to terminate his contract. His lawyers said, "From the beginning, his lawsuit wasn't about receiving money but at successfully concluding his relationship with his previous label. We got to this agreement so Park Jung Min could focus on various promotions instead of focusing on long-lasting legal matters."
Now that his legal battle is over, hopefully we can see Park Jung Min more often.

[Article] Park Jung Min Of SS501 Settles Out Of Court With Former Record Label CNR Media: Singer Drops $180,000 Lawsuit

Credit:   www.kpopstarz.com

The bitter legal battle between SS501 singer Park Jung Min and his former record label CNR Media, finally came to an end last week, after the star reportedly agreed to an out of court settlement.
Agreed to on May 22, the settlement was reportedly less than Park's original requested sum of $180,000.
Yet, Park's lawyers claim the 10-month legal action was never about the money.
"We weren't seeking to get any money for the lawsuit from the beginning," one of Park Jung Min lawyers told the Korea Star Daily.
"We only wanted to clarify our stand and clear up all ties with his former agency. This new development will allow Park Jung Min to focus all his energies on his current activities."
The SS501 singer's decision to lower the amount he felt CNR Media owed him after terminating a three-year exclusive contract he signed in 2010, was prompted by reports that his former agency is struggling financially.
Back in August, a couple of weeks after Park filed his initial lawsuit, CNR Media employees told the publication TV Daily that the star's demands were unfair, and a judge's initial ruling allowing him out of his contract was unjust.
"In this matter, the artist's request was too much," said Hwabo, head of legal affairs for CNR.
"The company's payment was reasonable, but still he filed a lawsuit to terminate the contract, without giving an attempt to settle the affair with the company and has started activities on his own. Therefore, we refuse to accept the court's decision in terminating the contract, thus decided lodge a counter appeal. Also, we have many related supporting documents."
A CNR Media public affairs spokesperson blamed the lawsuit for the company's financial struggles, alleging that the star caused major credibility issues for the label after announcing "Park Jung Min worked, but did not receive money."
Park is currently completing a new album and planning promotional tours in Japan and Taiwan.
The singer's new record label Yamaha A&R promptly issued a statement trumpeting the star's victory over his old management company.
"Park Jung Min has cleanly closed his relationship with CNR Media," the statement read.
"He's been exempted from all the related businesses and miscellaneous contract issues with his previous label."

[Article] Park Jung Min’s legal battle with former management agency comes to an end

The legal battle between Park Jung Min and his former management agency, CNR Media, has finally come to an end on May 22nd.
The legal battle begun on July 30th, 2012 where Park Jung Min won his suit against CNR Media to cancel his exclusive contract with them. But CNR Media failed to pay up all the dues that were owned to Park Jung Min in the aftermath, and also failed to take any other measures.
This led to Park Jung Min to file another new lawsuit against CNR Media on October 10th of the same year, as he demanded for 200 million Korean won in compensation.
Thereafter, Park Jung Min and representatives of CNR Media met twice in order to reach an agreement, but nothing came out of it. CNR Media said that it accepted the results of the first trial but objected to the need to pay the singer.
In the third meeting on May 22nd, Park Jung Min learnt that CNR Media was experiencing a difficult financial situation, and thus decided to receive a lower amount of compensation that could be paid. CNR Media agreed to comply with this new term, which ultimately led to the two parties coming to a consensus and end the long running legal battle.
With this, Park Jung Min has now cut all ties with CNR Media, and will be absolved of all responsibilities related to the contract. Park Jung Min’s legal attorney Huh Jong Sun expressed, “We weren’t seeking to get any money for the lawsuit from the beginning. We only wanted to clarify our stand and clear up all ties with his former agency. This new development will allow Park Jung Min to focus all his energies on his current activities.”
Park Jung Min is currently preparing for promotional activities in Japan and Taiwan, and a new album.
