Top Hallyu star Kim Hyun Joong has given a helping hand to Chinese people suffering from the Sichuan earthquake.

Kim recently donated 100 million Korean won [approximately 89,686 U.S. dollars] to Chinese charitable foundation One Foundation to help the victims, an official from Kim’s agency KEYEAST told TenAsia over the phone Tuesday, confirming the news that was first announced through the foundation’s official Weibo account last week.

“Kim had been agonizing about how to help the victims after he acknowledged the news. He came to have more interest in the tragedy since he had had a fan meet-and-greet tour in China last year and there are lots of his fans in China,” the official explained.

The foundation, established by Chinese action star Jet Li in 2006, added on their Weibo posting that, “With his donation, we’ll do our best to help the victims. On behalf of Kim, we bless the inhabitants of Yaan.”
Yaan is the region of Sichuan that a strong earthquake hit in April which left 200 dead or missing and 13,000 injured.

In the meantime, Kim will heat up singing duo UV’s Seoul concert at the Interpark Art Center on Friday, after gladly accepting the request for a guest appearance by UV’s Yoo Sae-yoon, co-starring in Kim’s SBS variety show “Barefoot Friends” [translated title].

The singer-and-actor is readying to show a never-seen-before performance in collaboration with UV, well known for their comical performances on stage.
